DigitalSafetyKit.org is a practical resource for LGBTQ+ individuals and organizations to protect and empower themselves in the digital world. We started as Safe Queers in 2019 and have evolved to serve even more communities facing digital threats.

Our mission is simple: provide accessible, actionable guidance on how to use technology safely without compromising your security or your identity. We believe in keeping things straightforward, no jargon, no fear-mongering, just practical steps that work.

DigitalSafetyKit.org is built by African Queer Youth Initiative, Out in Tech, and security experts committed to LGBTQ+ safety. Made possible by Automattic and WordPress.com.

Why Digital Safety Matters Now

It remains illegal to be LGBTQ+ in over 60 countries worldwide. Technology that connects us can also expose us. Governments and hostile actors use digital tools to identify, track, and persecute LGBTQ+ people.

Yet the digital space is also vital, it's how we find community, organize for change, raise awareness, and advocate for our rights. We shouldn't have to choose between being ourselves and being safe.

That's why we're here: to give you the knowledge and tools to participate in the digital world on your own terms, with confidence and security.
